Never very comfortable—and indeed considered a bit eccentric—in her hometown of Victoria, Emily Carr found inspiration for her art in the wet, wild coastal rainforest of British Columbia. There she traveled extensively and alone, befriending inhabitants of First Nations villages and recording in action-filled, impressionistic oils and watercolors her mystical affinity with the North Woods. This calendar reproduces a dozen of her encounters with sights and phenomena accessible only to the intrepid backcountry wanderer. This 2006 Wall calendar is published by Pomegranate.
