Romare Bearden drew on his personal observations of rural South and urban North to produce art that reflects his experiences with insight and warmth. Music was one of his great loves, and the thirty-two images herein bear titles such as Back in Kansas City, Blues at the Crossroads, and Wrapping It Up at the Lafayette. Bearden looked at black culture in The Gamble and The Baptism, and explored Homeric legend in his "Odysseus" series. This calendar gives a satisfying overview of Bearden's limitless curiosity and talent.
